How To Change Unix Prompt To Show Present Working Directory?

Its simple.May be a lottttt of pages in this vasssttt net will teach u the trick.But as per my own rule,I learnt,and Its my place to memorize.

Its like this:

$export PS1='$PWD>'

I dont know why-

$export PS1='$pwd>'
doesnt work.
